Looking for the best endodontist in Mountain View?

Mountain View patients have high standards — for technology, for diagnostic rigor, and for whether their specialist will actually tell them the truth before any treatment begins. The criteria below filter for exactly that. The six criteria below are the same standards the American Association of Endodontists uses to define modern specialist care — apply them to any office you're considering, including ours.

Six criteria that separate a good endodontist from a great one

These apply to any office in Mountain View or anywhere in the Bay Area. Ask the questions before you book.

Specialist residency + AAE membership

Two full years of accredited graduate training in endodontics beyond dental school, plus active membership in the American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Kung: UCLA DDS, OHSU MS in Endodontics, active AAE member.

Surgical operating microscope on every case

AAE clinical guidelines treat magnification as standard of care for modern endodontics. Many endodontists own a microscope but use it only on select cases. We use a Carl Zeiss surgical microscope on 100% of treatments — required for locating the upper-first-molar MB2 canal (present in ~90% of patients and the single most common cause of late root canal failure).

CBCT (3D) imaging on-site

Cone-beam CT changes the diagnosis or treatment plan in roughly 30% of endodontic cases compared with 2D X-rays alone. Our office has a J. Morita CBCT — no separate imaging appointment, no driving to a radiology center.

Honest pre-treatment assessment

About one in eight patients arriving for retreatment leave with a different recommendation — extraction + implant, microsurgery instead of retreatment, or simply monitoring. A specialist willing to tell you when treatment is not the right answer is worth more than one who will treat anything.

Real evening and weekend availability

Open weekdays until 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM — for major procedures, not only emergencies. One of the only Bay Area endodontic offices that performs scheduled microsurgery on weekends.

Verified local reviews — quantity, recency, specificity

Look for review counts above 100, recent reviews in the last six months, and quotes that mention your city or procedure (not just "nice staff"). Dr. Kung: 193+ reviews averaging 4.9★ across Google, Yelp, and Healthgrades, with quotes from patients across Santa Clara County.

Why we may be a strong fit for Mountain View patients

Our Sunnyvale office is 10 minutes east of Mountain View along El Camino Real or Central Expressway. Many of our Mountain View patients are referred by El Camino-area general dentists for retreatment of older root canals, microsurgery on persistent apical lesions, or evaluation of cracked teeth that need imaging the general office doesn't have. Googlers from the Shoreline campus, NASA Ames researchers, families in Cuesta Park and the Old Mountain View neighborhood, and downtown professionals near Castro Street make up most of our Mountain View patient base.

Distance: 5 miles — about 10 min. From Mountain View take El Camino Real east toward Sunnyvale, then turn south on Hollenbeck Avenue. Or take Central Expressway east to the Sunnyvale Avenue exit and head south one block. Both routes are 8–12 minutes door-to-door outside rush hour.

Who we see from Mountain View: Google (Googleplex / Shoreline), LinkedIn, NASA Ames Research Center, Intuit, Microsoft Silicon Valley campus, Symantec, El Camino Hospital staff, families in Cuesta Park, and downtown Mountain View / Castro Street professionals.

Neighborhoods we frequently see patients from: Old Mountain View & Castro Street · Cuesta Park & Cuernavaca · Rex Manor & Monta Loma · Whisman Station & Slater area · Shoreline / North Bayshore (Google campus) · Sylvan Park & Jackson Park · Waverly Park & Blossom Valley

How do I choose the best endodontist in Mountain View?+

Use the six criteria: a Specialist Endodontist with a two-year accredited graduate residency, active AAE membership, surgical operating microscope on every case, CBCT 3D imaging on-site, willingness to tell you when treatment isn't the right answer, real evening and weekend hours, and 100+ verified local reviews. How far is your office from Mountain View?+

About 5 miles — roughly 10 minutes from central Mountain View via El Camino Real east or Central Expressway east to Sunnyvale Avenue. We're at 1565 Hollenbeck Avenue, Suite 106, Sunnyvale, with free on-site parking. From the Googleplex / Shoreline campus, Shoreline Boulevard south to El Camino east is typically the quickest route at 12–14 minutes.

Do you see patients from Google, LinkedIn, NASA Ames, and Intuit?+

Yes — Mountain View tech professionals are one of our largest patient cohorts. We accept and bill all major PPO plans offered through Bay Area tech companies (Delta Dental PPO, MetLife, Cigna, Aetna, Guardian, United Concordia, Anthem Blue Cross). Out-of-network billing is straightforward and you receive your full PPO benefits at our standard fees. Most plans cover 50–80% of specialist endodontic care.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments for Mountain View patients?+

Yes. We're open Monday–Friday until 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM — including for major procedures, not only emergencies. Weekend root canals and weekend apicoectomy (microsurgery) are both available at standard weekday fees. To our knowledge we are one of the only Bay Area endodontic offices that performs scheduled microsurgery on weekends.

Do you speak Mandarin or Spanish for Mountain View patients?+

Spanish-speaking staff are available for scheduling and treatment coordination. The website is fully translated into Simplified Chinese (简体中文), Traditional Chinese (繁體中文), Spanish (español), and four more languages. 我们说中文,hablamos español.

Yes. We hold emergency endodontic slots every day — including weekends — for Mountain View patients in severe pain, with swelling, or recovering from a dental trauma. Call (669) 234-2354 and we'll do our best to see you the same day. Most root canals are completed in a single visit under our Zeiss surgical microscope.

I'm near El Camino Hospital. What's the easiest route to your office?+

From El Camino Hospital, take El Camino Real east toward Sunnyvale (about 4 miles), then turn south on Hollenbeck Avenue. We're 10–12 minutes door-to-door outside rush hour, with free on-site parking. Many of our Mountain View patients are post-surgical referrals from El Camino-area dentists who need a specialist with CBCT for complex anatomy or persistent post-op pain.
