After-work root canal — open until 7 PM Monday through Friday
Most endodontic offices on the Peninsula and in the South Bay close at 5 PM — which means burning a half-day of PTO to get a root canal. We hold late-afternoon and early-evening slots Monday through Friday until 7 PM so working patients can leave the office, drive over, and have the procedure done before dinner. Plus Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM to 3 PM.
Why a working-patient practice runs differently
Open until 7 PM, Monday–Friday
Two extra hours past most Bay Area dental offices. Leave work at 5 or 6, be in the chair by 6 or 6:30, home with the root canal done before dinner.
Same-day diagnosis, treatment, and report
Diagnostic exam, CBCT 3D scan, and the root canal itself all happen in the same after-work visit. No 'come back next Tuesday' loop.
Single operator, every visit
Dr. Kung performs every step himself — no rotating residents, no handoffs to an associate. The person who diagnoses your tooth is the person who treats it.
Microscope on every case, including the diagnostic exam
The Zeiss OPMI surgical microscope is on the operatory ceiling. Magnification × 16 starts at the diagnostic exam — cracks, missed canal orifices, and resorption defects are visible on minute one, not after treatment has already started.
Free parking, no garage hunt
On-site lot at 1565 Hollenbeck Ave. No meter, no garage fees, no late-evening street-cleaning surprise.
Bilingual operatory
Mandarin and Cantonese spoken in the chair, in addition to English. Bring family who may want to ask questions in their preferred language.
Working-patient FAQ
How late are you open on weekdays?
Monday through Friday until 7 PM. Most endodontic and general dental offices on the Peninsula and in the South Bay close at 5 PM, which means leaving work mid-afternoon to get a root canal. We hold late-afternoon and early-evening slots specifically for working patients.
Can I get a complete root canal in a single after-work visit?
Yes — most single-canal and many multi-canal root canals are completed in one appointment of 60 to 90 minutes. Complex molars (calcified canals, retreatment, four-plus canals) sometimes warrant a second visit, which we will explain after the diagnostic exam and CBCT. You will know the plan before treatment begins.
What if I'm in pain and can't leave work until 5 PM?
Call (669) 234-2354 as early in the day as you can — even if you can't get out of the office until late. The front desk will hold a late slot for you, and you can take ibuprofen 600 mg with food in the meantime (Tylenol if you don't tolerate NSAIDs). Spreading swelling, fever, or trouble swallowing is a medical emergency — go to an ER first.
Will my general dentist receive a report before tomorrow morning?
Yes. Operative notes, CBCT findings, and the treatment plan are sent to your referring dentist the same day, usually within an hour of you leaving the chair. Your general dentist will have the full record before their morning huddle.
Do you take weekend appointments too?
Yes. We are open Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM — one of the few endodontic practices in the Bay Area with weekend hours. If the after-work slot doesn't work, the weekend usually does. See our weekend emergency endodontist page for details.
Where are you located, and is there parking?
1565 Hollenbeck Avenue, Suite 106, Sunnyvale — convenient to US-101, I-280, Central Expressway, and El Camino Real. Free on-site parking, no garage hunt, no meter timer running while you're in the chair.

Need a late slot tonight?
Call early — evening slots fill first. The front desk will hold one for you and confirm your insurance before you arrive.
