Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking endodontist in the Bay Area

Medically reviewed by Dr. Jason Kung, DDS, MS · Specialist Endodontist · UCLA DDS · OHSU MS

Root canals, retreatments, and endodontic microsurgery shouldn't be decided through a translator. Dr. Jason Kung — a specialist endodontist with full graduate training (UCLA DDS, OHSU MS) — sees Chinese-speaking patients from across the Bay Area and conducts the full consultation, informed consent, and treatment in Mandarin or Cantonese.

常見問題 / 常见问题 — Common questions

Does Dr. Kung speak Mandarin and Cantonese?

Yes. Dr. Jason Kung speaks Mandarin and Cantonese conversationally and uses them in patient consultations. For complex endodontic discussions — informed consent, treatment alternatives, CBCT findings, post-treatment instructions — patients can hear and ask questions in the language they think in.

Which San Francisco and Bay Area neighborhoods do you serve in Chinese?

We see Chinese-speaking patients regularly from San Francisco's Chinatown, Sunset, Richmond, and Visitacion Valley; from the South Bay's Cupertino, Sunnyvale, San Jose Berryessa, and Milpitas; and from Fremont, Palo Alto, and Mountain View. The office is in Sunnyvale; driving distances and routes are on each city's location page.

What if my parent or relative speaks only Mandarin or Cantonese?

That's a common reason families travel further to see us. We can do the full appointment — history, exam, CBCT review, informed consent, treatment, post-op instructions — in Chinese, so the patient understands every decision directly rather than relying on a family member to translate medical terminology.

Are written materials available in Chinese?

Our website is fully translated into Simplified Chinese (zh-CN) and Traditional Chinese (zh-TW). Use the language switcher in the site header. AI-generated translations have not been reviewed by a native medical translator, so we always confirm the most important details verbally in the office.
