Is any endodontist open weekends near San Jose?
Weekend endodontic availability is rare across San Jose — most West, Downtown, North, and Almaden endodontic offices are Monday–Friday only. Silicon Valley Endodontics in Sunnyvale is about 12–25 minutes north via I-280 or CA-87 depending on neighborhood, and is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM with a specialist endodontist on site. How long does it take to drive from San Jose to your Sunnyvale office?
From West San Jose, Willow Glen, or Santana Row: about 10–15 minutes via I-280 N or Lawrence Expressway. From Downtown San Jose or San Jose State: about 15–20 minutes via I-880 N or CA-87 to US-101 N. From Almaden, Berryessa, or Evergreen: 20–30 minutes. We're at 1565 Hollenbeck Avenue, Suite 106, Sunnyvale, with free on-site parking.
I'm in severe pain right now — what should I do before I get there?
If you tolerate NSAIDs, take 600 mg ibuprofen with food (Tylenol is the backup if ibuprofen is contraindicated). Avoid heat on the affected side and don't chew on that tooth. Spreading facial swelling toward the eye or neck, fever, or trouble swallowing or breathing is a medical emergency — go to an ER first (Good Samaritan, Regional Medical Center, or O'Connor).
Do you accept patients referred by San Jose general dentists?
Yes — many of our patients are referred by general dentists across San Jose, Cambrian, Rose Garden, Willow Glen, Almaden, Evergreen, and Berryessa. We coordinate care closely: you keep your general dentist, and we send a full clinical summary back to them within 24 hours so they can place the final crown.
Do you speak Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese?
Yes to Mandarin and conversational Cantonese — Dr. Kung speaks both, and members of the front-office team speak Mandarin. Many of our San Jose patients prefer to discuss treatment in Chinese; see svendodontics.com/mandarin-speaking-endodontist-bay-area for details. We do not have an in-house Vietnamese speaker, but a family member who interprets is always welcome.
Does insurance cover an emergency or weekend root canal?
Most dental PPOs cover root canal treatment on the same terms whether it's a weekday or a weekend. We're in-network with most major plans and submit the claim on your behalf — have your insurance card ready when you call.
